Looking For Prosperity

  • Thursday, 19th Nov
  • 7:45 pm - 8:45 pm IST

Is it a longstanding proclivity for socialism and an antipathy to markets across political parties? Is it a penchant for protectionism and the desire for a strong rupee? Or is it a more recent disdain for the independence of institutions such as the Reserve Bank of India? Based on their recent books, two leading economists who previously held senior positions in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance that came to power in 2014 analyse the ideological, policy and governance problems that hold the Indian economy back and offer prescriptions for the way forward.
